Joseph Thompson Obituary
J.E. "Ned" Thompson, 84, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ned was born January 12, 1932 in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Phoenix Union High School and the University of Arizona where he was a 4-year varsity swimmer and member of Delta Chi. Ned served in the Korean War. He was an avid sailor and world traveler. The highlight of his travels was the two-and-a-half years navigating his sailboat around the world with his wife and children. A successful Arizona businessman, Ned spent a large part of his career involved in the real estate market. A third generation Arizonan, his family founded the William Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior, Arizona. He will be remembered for his keen mind, as a fun-loving friend, an ardent explorer, and as a devoted father, grandfather and husband. Ned is survived by his wife, Cynthia; daughter, Gwen Miller; son Jim Thompson and four grandchildren. Private Services have been held.
