Irma Turtle Obituary
A Celebration of Life honoring Irma Turtle, 1944-2016, will be held Thursday June 2nd, 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Gray Hawk Golf Club, 8620 E Thompson Peak Pkwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85255. Irma grew up in Newton, Mass,graduating Smith College with a major in practical art in 1967. An advertising publishing career sent her to Brazil from 1981-84, running a small advertising agency for an international company. A trip to southern Algeria for the Sahara desert in 1985 changed her life. Turtle Tours birthed an adventure travel company bringing attention to the plight and tremendous need across Niger, Mali, and Ethiopia. From 1997 to 2013 Turtle Tours bloomed into the humanitarian foundation known as TurtleWill, tirelessly providing aid for education, mobile clinics, healthcare, wells, women's co-ops and economic development. Oh Irma... I didn't know your were ill. Too many years have gone by and we didn't communicate too often, but when we did it seemed as though we were on the same wavelength. I will miss knowing you are on this planet and so will everyone whose life you touched.
