George was a magnificent human being: smart, funny, caring, with a warm soul and big heart. In 1980, he recruited me to the University of Washington Law School faculty and I treasured every minute of my time with him there. Both George and I moved on from the UW Law School to other adventures. My last get together with George, and his amazing wife Lorraine, was in 2013 at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Music is one of my great passions, and I gave George a DVD documentary, Throw Down Your Heart, which follows banjo virtuoso Bela Fleck on a musical adventure that takes him from Uganda to Tanzania and from the Gambia to Mali to research the history of the banjo and record an album with some of Africa's finest musicians. Much to my delight, Lorraine later told me that George loved the documentary. I'll miss George greatly, but what a privilege and honor it was to have him in my life. I throw down my heart to you, George.

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of George. I knew George for many years as I started working at UConn Law in 1988. A fine man with a gentle soul. Wishing his family and friends peace and comfort at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Susan Steen
