I live across the street from Andy & being a lover of sports, we had many great chats about baseball, golf, etc. I miss you everyday, Andy. Drew & Derek were nice enough to give me one their Dad's worn baseball caps. I cherish that cap & feel Andy every time I wear it My heart goes out to his family & all of those that loved him...like me. SO very sorry that I cannot make it to the service but will wear that cap with honor & respect on the 26th. Peace my Brother

I grew up with Andy, in Tucson, and play baseball with him from Little League to Senior League to High School at Palo Verde.
We kept in touch with each other throughout his professional career. When I moved to Chicago, in the '80s and 90's we would have lunch together when his team was in town. I have many, many photos of our LL teams if the family is interested in seeing them,
We were all trying to locate Any recently as we celebrated our 50th high school reunion last November.
My little finger, on my left hand, remains deformed because of the days when I caught the hard-throwing Andy Hassler. [email protected]

You were my buddy, golfing partner, roomie in pro ball at El Paso and Salt Lake City. If people could have only heard your fastball "sizzle" when you threw your 100 mph fastball back then. I was there in the room in Portland when the Angels called you up from Triple A. They told you your ticket to New York was at the front desk and you were starting against the Yankees the next night...it was like a dream. RIP, brother

Very sad to see a solid Major League lefty reliever pass away at a relatively young age. Prayers & condolences for his family during this sorrowful time.
