Mike Lage Obituary

My life foundation, my ROCK, changed forever on Sunday, August 24, 2014, with the passing of my husband, Mike Lage, known to many as "Tracker." He was born Michael A. Lage in Davenport, Iowa, to the late Paul and Bernice Lage.
Mike served 28 years in law enforcement. He was dedicated and passionate about his work. He was employed with the Bakersfield Police Department and retired in 1991 from the Kern County Sheriff Homicide Division. He fought hard to bring justice for victims and their families. "I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore I can do, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
Mike was the only officer ever to be nominated twice for "Lawman of Kern County." His selection gave praise to an award of a firearm from then Attorney General George Deukmejian. Along with his other accomplishments, Mike was approached by the producers of "Forensic Files" to air two of his case files, which are still airing to this day. His retirement did not keep him from his talent of investigations. He eventually went into private practice.
As an avid motorcycle rider in his younger years, he raced the flat track circuit. He enjoyed riding his Harley and riding with his brothers, Sentinels MC, a family oriented club which he founded in 1996. They will truly miss him, but they will carry on his legacy. Mike had many friends associated with several clubs throughout California.
Mike was a Veteran and served in Vietnam with the Marine Corps, was a lifetime member of the NRA, Loyal Order of Moose, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mike leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Mary; children, David, Robin, and Nick Lage; grandchildren, Adam and Tate (Stefanie); and soon-to-be great-grandchild, Zayden; and his faithful dog, Jiggs; stepfather, Al Sonne; half brothers, Gordon and Pete (Leslie) Sonne; nephews, Michael and Jason Sonne; and the many friends he has made in his 75 years of life.
Interment will be at Greenlawn Southwest. At Mike's request, there will be no services.
