Douglas Hamilton Obituary



Douglas Wood Hamilton, aged 96, passed away peacefully at Tashiding, his son's home in Northern Baltimore County, early in the morning of New Year's Day. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Roscoe Hamilton, and father of Douglas Hamilton Jr., Wendy Hamilton Tyson, and the late Helen "Nell" Pfaeffle, and father-in-law of Tsognie Hamilton, Scott Tyson, and Mike Pfaeffle. Formerly of "Emerald Hill," the family estate in Western Baltimore County, he spent the last years of his life surrounded by family and friends while living with son Douglas Jr. Born January 29, 1918 to R. Bruce Hamilton Sr. and Lee Elmer Hamilton, he was a pilot, welder, and entrepreneur, and enjoyed travel to China, Egypt, and India amongst others with his dear Margaret. He is survived by three grandchildren: Douglas III, Palden, and Justin; and a great granddaughter Charlotte. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church Western Run Parish in Reisterstown on Tuesday, January 13th, 11am. Friends welcome, reception to follow at Tashiding.
