Glenn Kuhn Obituary

Glenn Dean Kuhn, 62, of Cedar City, UT, passed away at home on April 2, 2016, after a long bout with Pneumonia, He was born on November 12th 1953 in Laramie, WY to surviving parents Donald Dean Kuhn, and Mary Keopenick Armstrong. After living his boyhood dream of having the Wyoming plains, and the Colorado Rockies as his backyard, all of which formulated his love for wildlife, and being in the great outdoors.

His father taught him how to hunt, fish and taught Glenn a great respect for the outdoors. The Kuhn family, which included his surviving siblings Bryan Kuhn, Donna Kuhn Johnson, and Twila Kuhn Davis, picked up roots in 1964, and moved to El Paso Texas for a new chapter, and adventure in life. This was the family lifestyle that would instill in Glenn a zest for adventure, and the ability to adapt to any situation, with a smile, a shrug, and a laugh, that will always be remembered by those that knew him best. Glenn went on to graduate from Eastwood High School in 1971 and shortly thereafter joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War; with his High School buddy Terry Handy, Dave Welch all would go on to serve their country honorably. After being discharged from the Navy, Glenn moved with his young family, to Seattle Washington, to begin a seven month program at the Divers Institute of Technology, to be trained, and certified as a commercial diver, and underwater welder. After graduating they moved on to the Houston Texas area where Glenn would start a long career doing what he loved most. His job took him to Africa, India, South America, Mexico, and many places in between, and although a very dangerous, and challenging career, it would fill a passion that he had for an adventurous, life, and an unabiding love for the ocean. He and his friend Doug Calvert (Bull) spent many years diving together. Many years later Glenn would close out his diving career by working for Pinnacle Engineering, as a chief welding inspector on various deep-water platform drilling rigs, and support ships throughout the Gulf of Mexico. Before retiring from the oil, and diving industry Glenn was able to fulfill another longtime dream of purchasing a home on acreage in Colorado, with the ultimate goal of being back in the Rocky Mountains, a place where he could live out his lifelong passion for fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, and all of the other activities that the outdoors could offer him. He moved to De Beque, Colorado to live in his new home on forty acres in 2004, and began a new career as a Real Estate broker.

In 2007 he made the decision to move to Cedar City, Utah to be around his aging mother, as well as other family members in the area. He remained in Cedar City until his death. Glenn is also survived by his two daughters, whom he was so very proud of, and always willing to share stories about. Leah Kuhn Pate, who graduated with a Master's of Arts in marriage and family counseling from Liberty University the mother of his three beautiful grandchildren Andrew, Christian, and Eden living in Friendswood, Texas, and Taylor Kuhn, a student at the University of Texas, (Austin), whom he couldn't talk about without mentioning her artistic ability, and prowess on the softball field. Glenn is also survived by his son in-law Kevin Pate, of Friendswood, Texas, and Craig Johnson his brother in-law, whom Glenn considered his other brother, from Summit, Utah, his nieces Jennifer Kuhn & Kristen Kuhn from Portland, Oregon, as well as his stepmother Frances Kuhn, living in El Paso, Texas. Glenn will be missed all who know him, he was a wonderful son, brother, father and best friend. He never knew a stranger and you couldn't help but love him. We will miss you Glenn. The world lost a very special man.
