Albert's Obituary

Albert Roger Oriez, 87, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, just three days shy of his 88th birthday.

Born on August 12, 1937, Al was preceded in death by his father, Albert Edward Oriez; mother, Marie Madeleine Oriez; brother, Paul M. Petoud; sister, Madeleine Marie Petoud; brother-in-law, Gerald Kohl; and sister-in-law, Betty Petoud.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Marlene Adele Oriez; daughters Polly Dubois (Johnny Corey) Oriez and Suzanne Kay Oriez Arcuri; grandsons Ethan Joseph Arcuri, Johnny Ray (Kelsey) Corey Jr. and their 3 daughters, Albert Martin Corey, and Carter Edward Corey and his daughter Scarlett M. Corey. He is also survived by his cherished sister-in-law, nephew, and nieces.

A graduate of Hughes High School, Al went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts & Sciences from the University of Cincinnati and his Master of Education from Xavier University. He proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserves for 41 years. As a young boy and man, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, developing a lifelong sense of leadership, service, and camaraderie.

Al dedicated 30 years to teaching at Woodward High School, where he influenced and inspired countless students. Upon retiring, he and Marlene spent 17 wonderful years in Sarasota, Florida, where Al explored various career paths and enjoyed the sunshine. In 2007, they returned to Cincinnati to be closer to family, and Al continued working at Meijer for more than 15 years, where he made lasting friendships.

He was a devoted husband, a loving and selfless father, a proud grandpa, and a deeply grateful great-grandpa. Al was a friend to everyone he met, always ready with a warm smile and hearty laugh. He had a deep love for history, an unquenchable passion for reading, an enduring appreciation for the game of soccer, and enjoyed playing poker with his neighborhood friends.

Al’s presence will be deeply missed, but his love, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 1 PM until the time of service at 2 PM Thursday, August 14th at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241.
