Mrs. Edith P. Parham, 90, of 18002 Little Mill Road, Stony Creek, VA entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, November 10, 2017 at her residence Edith was born on September 16, 1927 to Charlie and Mary Eliza Parham. She is the fifth of nine children. In her youth, Edith accepted Christ and was baptized at the Little Bethel Baptist Church in Stony Creek, Virginia. She later joined First Baptist Church, Jarratt, Virginia where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, a member of the Missionary and Hospitality Ministries. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Jarratt Chapter #185. She was a kind and loving person who had a passion for cooking. Edith loved her family and will be remembered for her warm smile.In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Parham; brothers: Richard, Wayman and Jesse; sisters: Ethel, Nellie and Ruth. Left to cherish her memories are her two loving and devoted children: Lucy P. Hill (Ned) and Edward R. Parham. Edith was blessed to have 7 grandchildren: Derek Hill, Dion Parham (TeShell), Ivonda Moore, Tony Hicks, Randy Hicks, LaTonya Worrell (Ronell) and Valerie Hargrove. She was also blessed to have 15 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. She leaves to cherish two loving sisters, Elsie Brown and Ellen Walker; two sisters-in-law: Eunice Parham and Mae Parham. A devoted niece, Mary E. Parham; a devoted nephew, Timothy P. Pegram and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Two devoted friends, Thelma Hill and Catherine Reed. Funeral services for Edith Parham will be held on November 14, 2017 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church, Jarratt, Virginia, with the pastor, Rev. George Mayes, officiating and the Rev Antonel Myler, eulogizing. Burial will commence at the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held Monday November 13, 2017 from 12 Noon to 8 pm at the Petersburg Chapel. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the professional staff of the Petersburg Chapel of Joseph M. Johnson and Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg. (804) 863-4411.
