Not sure what to say?

Wally was our 222nd Aviation Battalion Commander in Vietnam. He attended several Skymaster Reunions from 2008 to 2018.
I invited him for dinner at my daughters home in Leesburg. We had a great time recalling events we experienced.
Wear your Wings in Heaven.

We will miss George in our office at Virginia Head and Neck Surgeons. He was entertaining.

Do the family of Wally Adamson. We only recently learned about Wally`s passing, several days after May 5. Our hearts are broken as well. He was such a dear friend to both of us. He meant so much to us and was so generous to us during the time that we knew him Our hearts are empty. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family, Wally, Jane, and all his family members are in our prayers we pray for your comfort and healing during this period of loss. Much love, Dean and Katherine Hamingson.

Fondly remembering fun times that our parents (Wally, Jane, Forest, and Sally) shared together at Ft. Benning and then in Virginia. We were so happy to see Wally and Marty again in December. Thinking of you, Marty, Steve, and John and your families as you remember your wonderful father and mother.

Very sad to learn of Wally's passing. Was at NVAR just a couple of weeks ago and was swapping Wally story's with another committee. Loved his positive energy and words of encouragement. Definitely a life well lived!!

I had the privilege of working for Wally at the Vienna/Oakton office of Weichert Realtors as his Office Manager. I loved working for him and hearing his stories. He had this wonderful system of Post-it Notes to help him remember all the things he had to do, and therefore me. Wally and Jayne were both loving, kind and dedicated to their family, friends and fellow Realtors. Wally was an excellent example of leadership and integrity to me and many others and though he will be missed he deserves...

This is a difficult message to write to Wally’s family. Why? Because, as they well know, there can only be one such as Wally - kind, thoughtful, generous, humorous and caring.
He is at peace and I send loving thoughts to his family, especially Marty, Steve, John.

Wally and I were new ("rookie") real estate agents at the same time, going through training, etc.
It was a joy to know him - always a special bond, sharing the ups and downs of starting this career.
He will be remembered for his friendliness and many successes in real estate and will be missed by many.
My thoughts are with the family.

Such an amazing person who had such an amazing life, you will always be in our hearts

George's Obituaries

( August 24, 1931 - May 5, 2025 )

George Wallace (Wally) Adamson officially retired from this life after passing away peacefully on May 5, 2025 in Lansdowne, Virginia. Wally was surrounded by loving family in his final days and hours. We appreciate God’s grace to enable many dear friends and extended family to say their final goodbyes to him while his humor and stoic perseverance shined through to the last. For everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Wally, his legacy to family and friends will forever be his unmatched wisdom, his boundless generosity, and his ability to make people feel valued.

Wally was cut from the cloth of strong midwestern Iowa roots. Born on August 24, 1931, to Neil and Marjorie Adamson of Des Moines, Iowa, he graduated from the University of Iowa in 1953 where he met his beloved wife, Jane Hertig Adamson of 61+ years. Wally is survived by his three children, Steve (Tracy), Martha Cislo (Greg) and John, six grandchildren, Bryan, Jordan, Jenna, Adam, Olivia and Cassady, and three great grandchildren, Bradley, Beau and Ben. Wally also has eight nieces and nephews, all of whom looked up to him as the family patriarch. Wally is pre-deceased by his wife Jane Louise (Hertig) Adamson, brothers Neil and David, and sister Marjorie.

Colonel Adamson was an Army Officer for 23 years with tours of duty including Korea and Vietnam. Wally maintained a highly regarded career to include Commanding Officer of the 222nd Combat Support Aviation Battalion in Vung Tau, RVN. He, Jane and the family moved frequently… 21 different homes with Steve born in Nurnberg, West Germany, Marty in Ft. Carson, CO and John in Ft. Rucker, AL. After his retirement from active military duty in 1976, Wally launched into an equally successful and lengthy career in real estate where he was the Broker of the Vienna/Oakton office of Weichert Realtors (formerly Shannon & Luchs) throughout the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. His Tuesday morning Sales Meetings were legendary!

For the past 17 ½ years, Wally has been a positive and happy resident at Lansdowne Woods (formerly Leisure World of Virginia). The family wishes to thank the many dear friends of Wally’s at Riverview condominium, especially this past decade after the passing of his dear wife Jane. All his friends and activities with his “Riverview Battalion” have been a constant source of joy for him.

Wally was part of the Silent Generation who grew up in the aftermath of the Great Depression and endured World War II on the home front. He lived a life defined by service—to his country, his family, and his many friends. One of Wally’s favorite historical figures was Winston Churchill who so eloquently expressed: “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Soldier on Colonel Adamson.

A full military service with honors will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery on
