Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family, especially his daughter Brenda. I believe he was the epitome of what a husband,father,grandfather and good catholic should be, he will be sadly missed.

George was a rock supporting his family and friends. He will be very much missed.

George's Obituary

George O. Pontif, age 79, was a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, LA. He was a former resident of Port Sulphur, LA, Gretna, LA and Alabama. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 9:00am to 11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial in Burial: Bayou Black Cemetery Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Hilda Blanchard Pontif. Also survived by one daughter Brenda and husband Daniel Galbraith, two sons Brian and wife Heidi Pontif, Steve and wife Malissa Pontif, two sisters, Vivian Cancienne and Alice Guidry, five grandchildren, James and Ben Galbraith, Grace and Noah Pontif, and Ragen Pontif. He was preceded in death by his,He is preceded in death by parents Oliver Pontif and Julette Bourg Pontif, one son Dennis Pontif, two sisters, Hazel Chartier, Agnes Vice, 3 brothers, Ned Pontif, Robert Pontif, John Pontif. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Employed by Exxon USA for 38 years and retired in 1991 as Field Superintendent. He enjoyed spending time with family, gardening and working with his orange trees. In lieu of flowers, a donation made to the American Cancer Society.The family would like to extend a special thanks to Haydel Hospice for their care. Also to Fr. Vic and Sister Miriam for their spiritual guidance and friendship during this time of need.
