Ida i missed all of the sutle hints/signs...my sister was a rare flower in this garden called life; i have been reflecting on our formative years growing up she always seperated herself from the pack..she was a person who treasured her privacy, the epitome of kindness...a real strong godly woman who loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart. Rest well my sister..you've now joined Ann and Jean, i'll go on without you guys, it will be hard but i'll never stop missing y'all.. with...

To Linwood and Family, It's with Heartfelt sympathy that we are sending our condolences and prayers to the Family on the passing of Ida. She was such a beautiful person, I remember when she and my mother would talk on the phone and she would send cards to her all the time. My mom thought a lot of her. May God wrap his loving arms around each of you during this bereavement. RIP ❤

Ida's Obituary

A wife, a mother, and a grandmother too

This is the legacy we have for you.

You taught us love and how to fight

You gave us strength and you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,

And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another,

Not just as a wife, and not just as a mother.

To all of us, you gave your best,

Now, the time has come for you to rest.

So, go in peace.  You have earned your sleep,

Your love in our hearts, we will eternally keep.

On December 7, 2024, with much grace, courage, and dignity, Ida Jiggetts quietly entered into eternal rest.  She was surrounded by her loving and very supportive family.  Ida was born in Dewitt, VA to Geraldine Morgan and Joseph Morgan.  She was one of six siblings.  Ida Jiggetts was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Joseph Morgan, Jr., Grace Ann Tucker, and Jean Morgan; daughter, Sherida Jiggetts; granddaughter, Korynn Amaya Jiggetts; and many more relatives in the Morgan and Jiggetts lineage.

Ida met the love of her life in 1961, Linwood Jiggetts, Sr.  Three years later they united in holy matrimony on July 3, 1964.  After becoming Mrs. Jiggetts, Ida relocated to Dinwiddie, VA.   She devoted her whole life to her loving husband, her children, and to God.  On July 3, 2024, Linwood and Ida celebrated 60 years together.

Her love for the Lord led her to join the S. I. Edwards Memorial Church, now New Covenant Apostolic Church, as her home church for over 20 years.  Rarely missing a service, she faithfully and joyfully attended several times a week.  She often traveled out of state to worship with the saints at other affiliated locations.  Most recently she settled down at one of those parishes, Ark of Refuge Church, under Pastor Otis Cathey.  There she was bestowed the honorary title of “Church Mother”.  She faithfully continued to give God glory in the beauty of holiness, until her passing.

One of her favorite songs later in life was, “Goodness of God” by CeCe Winans.  She recognized and walked in the assurance.  It was of the Lord’s goodness that she was able to continue standing.  All of her life He has been faithful.  All of her life, He has been so, so good.  With every breath, while she was able, she spoke and sang of the goodness of God.

“Grandma” knew each of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews on sight.  She proudly displayed photos of them and their accomplishments all over her home.  She loved each of them and thoroughly, enjoyed cooking and feeding them.  She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family.  She often fixed her "special dishes" and was happy to share them with others.

In addition to her beloved husband, Linwood Jiggetts, Sr., she leaves to cherish her memories; her children: Anthony (Cynthia), Timothy (Jenn), Brigitte (Dwayne, Sr.), Linwood, Jr. (Demetri), and Brandon (Robin); sister, Sylvia Morgan; brother, Clarence ‘Don” Morgan (Willett); sisters-in-law: Alease Jiggetts, Colleen Jiggetts, Meredith Jiggetts, and Mary Jiggetts; beloved cousins: Pastor Otis Cathey, Etta Rogers, and Selia “Sueteen” Starke (Herbert); grandchildren: Bryce, Brittini, Braxton, Baley, Blayze, Dwayne, Jr., Jonathan, Brookelyn, Cullen, Damian, Warren, Aaron, Teighlor, Ty’reke, Taran, and Brianna; many great-grands, including Heaven; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones.

Funeral services for Ida Jiggetts will be held  1 pm, Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Smyrna Baptist Church,18971 Carson Rd., Dinwiddie, VA. Burial will be at Jiggetts Family Cemetery, Dinwiddie, Virginia.  At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing.
