Not sure what to say?

John is sorely missed. He was so kind hearted, always smiling and so great to chat with, always made time to help or just to talk.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. God bless

I was very saddened to hear of John's passing. My sympathies, condolences and prayers for peace and strength for John's family, during these challenging times.

John was a man that I thank God for allowing me to know (though briefly). RIP my brother.

John was such a sweet, kind soul. No matter how busy he was, he always made time to stop and talk. He will be sorely missed.

I worked with John, he was such a sweet man, he would help anyone who needed it. He will truly be missed. My prayers are with the Mayo family.

With Deepest Sympathy

At times like this it’s hard to find
The words that best convey
The many thoughts of sympathy
My heart would like to say,
But may it somehow help to know
That though my words are few,
I am thinking of the family
And share this loss with you.

Friend and Colleague

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

RIP John
Always had a Smile
Always Positive
Always Kind
Prayers for the Entire Mayo Family ..

John's Obituary

On Thursday, June 23, 2022, John “John Boy” Ervin Mayo, Jr. was officially called to eternal rest. John was born on February 26, 1973 and was the son of John E. Mayo, Sr. and the late Margaret E. Moon Mayo of Roanoke, Virginia.

John graduated from Patrick Henry High in the Class of 1991. Shortly afterwards John became an Entrepreneur. John had a strong desire to pursue his education, therefore he went to ECPI and he achieved an Associate Degree in Computer Technology. In 2013 John began his career with Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in various capacities, however, he truly enjoyed working in the Materials Management Department. Outside of working, spending time with his family, and going to birthday dinners with the “fellas”, you would often catch him watching his Cowboys play.

Those left to rejoice in the memory of his home going are his two daughters, Sharnice Mayo and Sha’Kia Warren; one son, John “Trey” E. Mayo, III; one grandson, Jabari Alexander Penn-Martin; one sister, Jonette Mayo; three nieces, La’Kia Mayo, Tatyana and Takiyah Chege; one nephew, Jaden Chege; one great-niece, Za’Kira Wilson; one great-nephew, Za’Aire Chege; very close Aunt, Sarah Saunders; co-grandparent and friend, Monique Cooper; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 12Noon at Serenity. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
