Our Aunt Kristina was an amazing and one of a kind woman. She had a very peaceful soul, and she also had amazing kindness. Dear Bruce, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kris. This is a devastating time but know that you are in my prayers for healing and comfort. It has been many years but the good memories of Pack Forest remain as does the association with all involved.

Kristina "Kris"'s Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Kristina M. Breitmeyer, 70, passed away after a two-year battle with cancer on Thursday August 1, 2024, with loved ones by her side.

Born January 4, 1954, in Wyandotte, Michigan, she was the daughter of Fritz and Arvilla (Wohlin) Vikstrom.

Kris graduated from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1971. She then went on to graduate from University of Michigan for Natural Resources in 1974, and from Michigan State University for Horticulture in 1976.

On June 19, 1976, Kris married the love of her life and always her best friend, Bruce W. Breitmeyer in Gregory, Michigan. The two were happily married for 48 years.

Before opening her own flower shop, Kris worked at Neilsen’s Flower Shop and Greenhouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan, MSU Cooperative Extension Service in Lansing, Michigan and Mountainside Florist in Tupper Lake. Since she had a green thumb and an eye for design, Kris went on to open Trillium Florist in Tupper Lake in May of 1985, which she owned and operated for 38 years, finally closing its doors in December of 2023.  She loved to see people happy with flowers whatever the occasion.

In Kris’s free time, she enjoyed landscaping and doing numerous improvement projects on her and her husband’s home and bird watching, 

In addition to her parents, Kris was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Febe and John Vikstrom of Michigan; maternal grandparents, Catherine and John Wohlin of Michigan; brothers, Erik A. Vikstrom, and Lars G. Vikstrom of Michigan; and nephew, Nils A. Vikstrom of Michigan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bruce W. Breitmeyer of Glens Falls; sister, Kerstin I. Vikstrom of Mesa, Arizona; aunts and uncles, Dennis and Dorothy Vikstrom of Washington, Michigan, Robert and Sandy Vikstrom of Anderson, South Carolina, Mary Zurakowski of Richmond, Michigan, and Mary Ann Vikstrom of Utica, Michigan; in-laws, Douglas and Pamela Soules of Coos Bay, Oregon; nieces and nephews, Erik J. Vikstrom of White Lake, Michigan, Andrea (Tim) Johnson of Mesa, Arizona, Melissa Smallwood of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Paul Smallwood Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, Kiel Smallwood of Gilbert, Arizona, Luke Soules of San Luis Obispo, California, and Rebecca Soules of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; and her pet, Sebastion.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  A memorial gathering will be held at a future date.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the C. R. Wood Cancer Center, Glens Falls Hospital, and the Albany Medical Center who cared for Kris for the last two years and her friends, Patty Farrell of Long Lake, N.Y., and Peggy Paiement of Sydney, N.Y. for their support and friendship over the years.
