M. Earl's Obituary

Marvin Earl Achberger, age 96, devoted husband of 71 years to the late Marie “Mimi” Achberger, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022.

He was the son of Joseph and Katherine Achberger of Middletown, Ohio, where he was born and raised. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He returned home in 1946, attended college, and married Marie Polisini in 1949. Together they created a dynamic family of 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He is survived by his 3 daughters and 3 sons: Cathryn (Bruce) Garlitz, Christina (the late Rick) Taylor, James (Nancy) Achberger, John (Monica) Achberger, Marie (David) Zeller, and William (Beth) Achberger. He was adored by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Earl and Mimi enjoyed an extremely active life together. Earl enjoyed bowling, tennis, fishing in Canada, watching NASCAR, and playing golf which he played well into his 80’s. As a couple, their gregarious personalities (especially Mimi’s) allowed them to form lifelong friendships everywhere they lived.

Earl was one of “The Greatest Generation” who lived his life with honor, respect, and integrity. For that and all of the other honorable qualities he expressed, he will be greatly missed.

The family is extremely grateful for the excellent care he received from Fresenius Kidney Care Kings Mills for the past 4 years, and for the compassionate comfort from Hospice of Cincinnati in his last days. He is finally reunited with the love of his life, Mimi, and his numerous friends who have passed before him.

Visitation will be held 9-10 am on Thursday, April 7th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am with Fr. Tom Mannebach as celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with graveside military honors. Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home is honored to assist with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.MRFH.com

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Earl’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org , The National Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org , American Cancer Society www.cancer.org , or any charity of your choice.
