Your Dad & Mom held a special place in my heart. Your Mom and I became friends when your Dad advanced my husband’s career in academia. We shared a love of reading and the challenges of raising three daughters. Our friendship began in Denton, TX, and continued in the greater Cincinnati area. My condolences on your loss.

Obituary
Michael's Obituary
Michael Claude Walker, of Montgomery, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the age of 85. He was born in Sherman, Texas by the late Andrew and Alice (Curry) Walker.
Devoted husband of 58 years to his late wife, Ellen Hindman Walker; father of Stephanie (Shane) Powell, Rebecca (Joe) Reczek, and Priscilla Walker; grandfather to his beloved grandchildren, Cameron Powell, Clara, Mina, and Marcus Reczek.
Mike served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery operations and intelligence specialist and then completed his bachelor’s degree at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Houston, Mike was a professor of finance for over 40 years, 27 of those years as a full professor at the University of Cincinnati. During his career at UC, he was the Virgil M. Schwarm Professor of Finance and Investments. He had a particular talent for administration, serving as the Head of the Department of Finance for 13 years and Associate Dean of the College of Business for three.
Mike and Ellen were longtime members of Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church in Montgomery. Together, they enjoyed travelling across all 50 states and beyond throughout more than 20 countries. Mike was an avid reader, enjoyed road trips and long drives, loved his children and grandchildren deeply, and spent many happy hours watching Cincinnati sports with his family. Through intelligence, determination, and an unwavering work ethic, he built a life grounded in purpose and achievement. He provided a strong foundation for his family and believed deeply in education and opportunity. As the father of three daughters, his greatest legacy is the future he made possible for his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 30th at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY. Online condolences may be shared at www.MRFH.com
