Not sure what to say?

In remembering Morris and Ida’s support to the Civil Air Patrol I can’t say enough for Morris and his service to all.

Family you have my prayers and deepest condolences. May God give you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Be Blessed!!

The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace. Embracing you in prayer knowing that, even though you are grieving, your precious loved one is now rejoicing with the Lord. With prayers and deepest sympathy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hardy family.

Sorry to hear that Morris has gone to be with the LORD. He and my dad, Willie Walker, worked together at Virginia Power. Dad taught Morris to operate the Auger truck. They thought a lot of each other. Now they can enjoy each other again. May GOD BLESS ALL of your family. Mark Walker and Willies wife ERA.

I will truly miss you. No matter what was going on in your life, you was only a call away. Rest in Heavenly Peace uncle Morris.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

To the family , loved ones and friend's of Morris I express my sincere condolences. Morris was an exceptional man whom I have nothing but the most respect. I will always cherish his kindness and leadership he displayed in the way he lived his life. His love for his wife, family, church and his God meant everything to him.

Morris's Obituary

Morris Thomas Hardy, Jr. was born in Dinwiddie, VA on February 10, 1949 to Morris T. Hardy, Sr. and Alma Roberts Hardy and was the eldest of 10 children. Morris attended Southside High with the Class of 1967. While attending high school, Morris became a bus driver for Dinwiddie County alongside his mother, Alma. Morris also spent time in New York in his youth with his aunt, Mae Seawood, where he worked with Mae and her husband at their dry cleaning service.

On July 1969, Morris was drafted into the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War from December 1969 to December 1970, and during that time he was ranked Sergeant on June 22, 1970. Morris returned home with Honorable Discharge with medals for marksmanship, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, and an Army Commendation Medal, July 1971.

On January 29, 1972 Morris married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Ida A. Boswell. To this union was added one son, Juan Hardy.

Morris was employed with VEPCO in 1972, as the 1st black auger serviceman in Petersburg, VA.

Morris and his wife Ida enjoyed cooking together and serving others. Through this they opened a restaurant in Fort Pickett, VA, Ida’s Kitchen & Catering. After which they also began doing meal preps for people who didn’t have time to get out to them or cook for themselves. They served many government and public officials through this collaboration. Later Ida’s Kitchen opened a spot in Southside Community College. Ida’s Kitchen catered all over the state of Virginia.

During this time Morris had a health scare and had to retire from his job at VEPCO, now known as Dominion Energy, after a collapsed lung, after 30 years of service. He then put his full attention into managing Ida’s Kitchen with his wife until retiring the restaurant in 2020.

Morris became a Deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church on January 20, 2002 under the direction of Pastor David L. Banks, Sr. and was also a member of the missionary, the usher, and Sunday school ministries.

Morris retired from work, but not from service. He continued to stay connected to the VA Vets and Disabled American Veterans, to his community through the food bank and church, but never from his family.

Morris is preceded in death by his father, Morris Hardy, Sr.

He leaves to cherish memories of him to his loving wife; Ann Hardy, son; Juan Hardy Sr. (Alicia), grandchildren; Juan Hardy II and Imani Hardy, mother; Alma R. Hardy, four brothers; Ronald Hardy, Darryl Hardy, Ralph Hardy (Ernestine), and Norris Hardy, Sr. (Nancy), five sisters; Gwendolyn H. Tucker, Mary H. Johnson (Joseph), Lorrie Taylor, Lisa H. Cromer (Robert), and Shelia H. Raines (Gilbert). Also  many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
