Not sure what to say?

WOW. This is a shocker! Peter has been cutting my hair since 1987.
He was a good friend. He will be missed:(

In memory of a joyful man, whose presence will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

To Peters Family my deepest condolences.I´ve known Pete since I was 16, he cut four generations of my family knew all of family just a wonderful caring person!! Always had a smile will missed by all! It was pleasure to have known you Pete!

Been cutting my hair since I was a baby (25 now) and since my dad (65) was 16! He literally saw me and my father grow up! Incredibly nice man and I am truly honored to have known him. May he rest and his family have peace.

Elaine, Kara, John and Kaleigh: I am so sorry. I just learned of Peter´s passing upon calling the shop today. I have been a regular customer of his for about 50 years - since my mid-teens. Peter was family to me. We had many heart-to-heart conversations and stories of family through the years. All of my 3 kids first haircuts and beyond. I last sat in his chair on Saturday Nov 4. He looked and said he felt better than when I saw him in September. I asked about retirement and Greece...

To great man who I’ve been going to for over 30 years for my hair cut and also had great times together when we we talk about our hunting stories every weekend you will be greatly missed god bless your soul.

To the Tsakiris family I am sorry for your loss. Your father was always smiling whether I saw him at his work or elsewhere like Gennadi, Rhodes. My mother's side of the family is also from the same village for the past ninety years. He was a hard working Greek. I worked nearby his shop for parts of the 80s and 90s and was able to observe his dedication daily. I was saddened to see him on the news recently as a victim when his shop was broken into and items were stolen. I did not know he was...

My sympathy and prayers are with the entire family, I´ve known Peter for over 40 years and i was shocked to hear he passed . He cut my hair until it disappeared and we shared many stories together. I was his Insurance man until I retired and he will be missed for his many good qualities. Rest in peace Peter .

Dear Elaine, John and Kara, As close neighbors and friends you know that I got to know Peter almost as soon as he came to the US. I always felt that Peter was a friend. I saw how he took George and Kaye into his life and as he loved them, they loved him. Peter had an easy way with everyone. I always felt comfortable in just stopping into his shop to just say 'Hi' and hang out even if I didn't need a haircut. Peter was special and he will be missed. I also miss you too all the way from...

Obituary

Panteleon's Obituary

A man with swagger, who would never leave home without being meticulously dressed and stylishly groomed…usually soft spoken …with a sheepish smile that you could not miss in a crowded room- Panteleon, Peter, Pete, Pantelis-were all names which matched his unique, diverse, and unforgettable personality...but, probably, and most importantly, were the titles “Ba” and “Papou”.  Panteleon Tsakiris, 81, of Newington, Ct., passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2023, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General.

Peter was born and grew up in Gennadi, Rhodes, Greece.  There he developed a love for Nature, the outdoors and wildlife. Growing up, his childhood passion was mastering the use of a slingshot which later translated to small game hunting. This endeavor, of course, requires a keen eye, patience , and zeal for perfection- all qualities that so fluidly transferred to his stellar career as a master barber.  Diligently, and loyally, he has served three generations of statewide clients, many of whom became close friends.  He was a consummate professional, continuing his art, at his landmark Hartford South End barbershop to this very day.

He is survived by his loving wife and life long partner, Elaine, son John and fiancé Toniann, daughter Kara, and beloved granddaughter Kaleigh. He maintained a very close relationship with his three surviving sisters, Despina Milios (widow of John Milios), Demetra Karabetsos (widow of Sam Karabetsos), and Anastasia and Phillip Vrakas.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Savvas Tsakiris (survived by wife Stella Tsakiris) and Antonio Tsakiris (survived by wife Marianthi Tsakiris), beloved parents Ioannis and Paraskevi (Antonaras) Tsakiris, and loving father and mother in law, George and Kallie Bonatsakis, and brother in law, Michael Bonatsakis.  He is remembered and honored by countless cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, dear friends, and fellow barbers, specifically, Hector and Leo, who were an Important essence in the creation of Peter’s Men’s Hairstyling- a career spanning sixty years!

Peter was a man so abundantly proud of his children, John and Kara, and his precious grandchild, Kaleigh.  He reveled in all their accomplishments and their respected, good character.  He tirelessly loved chronicling the precious moments in their lives with countless photos which adorned both his shop and family homes. He was present for all their important occasions, but most importantly, he was just always THERE!!  His last twenty years were filled with the pure joy of “his Kaleigh”.  They were two peas in a pod- the toddler and Papou throwing popcorn to the wildlife at the ferry in Rocky Hill…Sharing a fortune cookie message which always, miraculously, read “Papou loves Kaleigh” and, just basically, always whispering their secret slogan, “You and Me Kid”!!!

Our Family thanks everyone for the outpouring of heartfelt messages and prayers in honor of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Husband and Friend.  May his memory be eternal.

Funeral services for Peter will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11 a.m, at St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
