Thomas Clay Marley passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, at the age of 84. Thomas was born December 18th, 1940, at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati to the late Henry and Vera (Roth) Marley. In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by Edna Roth and George and Ruth Roth.
Tom was a lifelong tinkerer, becoming an amateur radio operator at the young age of 12 and turning his love of electronics into a career as an electrical engineer at Cincinnati Milacron that spanned more than 50 years. Tom was always working on or collecting something, especially vintage BMWs and Volvos. For years, Tom was a constant presence at the local BMWCCA, supporting the club and its members with his automotive knowledge and shade tree mechanic skills, as well as at the Dayton Hamvention – one of his favorite events to catch up with longtime friends, fellow tinkerers, and ham radio operators from across the world. Tom was a constant optimist that could always see the value in anything electronic if given the right diagnosis, parts, and patience to restore.
As a devoted father, Thomas leaves behind Mary S. Marley, his former wife and mother to their 3 children; Elisabeth Marley and Derek Chaky; Michael, Anna, Will, and Wes Marley; and Stephen Marley, Jessica Maros, and Knox Marley, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many dear friends.
As a family, we find comfort in knowing that our dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
