After a long, wonderful life, Wilma Jean Brockmeyer (Patrick) died on June 15, 2024, at the age of 93.
Born in Cincinnati and raised in Lockland, Ohio. The daughter of Myrtle and Hiram Patrick and the wife of Fred Brockmeyer, deceased. They enjoyed more than 66 years of marriage. Jean and Fred raised three children, Joe Brockmeyer (Janice), Nancy Chabot (Mark), and Karen Brockmeyer. Sister-in-law Lois Geraci and Chuck (deceased). Beloved niece of the late Millard and Lauda Kunz. Plus, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends young and old.
Jean was quite active in the Sharonville community. She also was a Girl Scout Leader for 20 years in the Great Rivers Council. Leader for Junior troop #457 and an Advisor to Senior Troop #100. Jean was a lifelong Girl Scout, even when she was in grade school.
Graduating from Lockland High School in the class of 1948, she remained lifelong friends with Joyce Marple Trump, Joan Hammond, Laura Williams, and Joanne Goldschmidt Elmlinger. Jean and Fred met when they were working together at Merrell Corp. Soon they were married on December 2, 1950, and spent a few years living in Deer Park. In 1959, they moved to Sharonville and Jean spent the next 64 years living on Willfleet Drive. In June 2023 she moved to Hardeeville, SC to be closer to her children. Over the years, Jean was involved in not only her children’s lives, but she guided many other children and young adults. A strong sense of family, Jean and Fred went on many annual trips with their children and their spouses.
Jean shared her many talents with the Leon Acres Garden Club, Sharonville Elementary PTA. and Sharon Woods Heritage Village Society. She loved traveling, trailer camping, plus she had a fondness for crafting flower wreaths, creating personal greeting cards, and she was a natural at flower gardening. Jean loved to play Rummikub with family and friends and curl up with many books. Jean skillfully baked the best Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cheesy potatoes, and Campfire banana boats. And let’s not forget her love for jigsaw puzzles and sharing a glass of white Eclipse wine. She played a competitive game of putt-putt and scored many holes in one over the years. She was a lifelong Cincinnati Reds Fan and a member of the fan booster club “Rosie Reds” for years.
Jean worked for many years at the St. Michael’s Credit Union in Sharonville. For a little excitement in their lives, Jean and Fred delivered flowers at Vern’s Florist so they could dabble at the Indiana Boat Casino. Jean and Fred laughed and traveled with a close group of friends called “The Good Group”. Mary Jo and Ray Dyer, Bill and Jeanne Schwemberger, plus Barb and Ed George. Jean was blessed to have many lifelong friends and close neighbors. She will be missed by her cats Molly and Jackie, plus several grand cats.
Jean will be missed by anyone who had the good fortune to know her. Cheers to you Mom and we are who we are today because of you. You will never be forgotten.
Visitation in her honor will be held on Monday, June 24th from 10:00am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00am at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd, Evendale, OH 45241.
