D'juana "Dee" Monique Davillier Fowler, 39, of Beaumont passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2021, at her Beaumont home. An exceptional young woman, she continues to inspire, motivate, and encourage us as we celebrate her life, grateful for her extraordinary legacy that will endure forever, but with deep sadness at her loss.
Born on March 11, 1981, in Houston, Dee was a graduate of Central High School's class of 1999 and Lamar University. A proud member from the age of 12 of the Ben Rogers/Lamar University/BISD "I Have a Dream" Program, she credited the support she received from the Rogers Family, Margueritte Humphrey, her mentor and others after her sister Hazel's death as helping her earn her undergraduate degree in social work, and later, her master's degree in accounting and business. Of the organization, Dee said, "IHAD has always been there for me, making us 'dreamers' feel like we are in the spotlight. Even more than the scholarships, I have benefitted from IHAD as a family, especially during difficult times."
Dee exemplified all attributes of an authentic servant leader - consideration, motivation, and the ability to impart her enthusiasm for what she did to help others. Serving in a leadership role for more than 10 years at the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) where she was a Transportation Program Manager and community advocate, she was respected and admired for her giving heart and for her desire to improve the lives of her clients and community, as well as her passion for reaching out to help individuals in need. Additionally, she pursued a second career as the owner of Labor of Love Essentials and worked hard to build her brand and promote a natural healthy lifestyle.
The recipient of numerous awards, Dee was recognized repeatedly for her dedication of time, talent, and hands-on efforts that enriched the lives of others, especially underserved populations. Among the endeavors she impacted were her church, Peaceful Rest Baptist Church; Meals on Wheels; "I Have a Dream"; and the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.
Dee was preceded in death by her father Owen Davillier, her brothers Owen Davillier Jr. & David Davillier and sister Hazel Davillier. Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband Cleon Fowler, whom she married on October 29, 2016; her devoted mother Lottie Davillier; daughter Cynthia Julian; godchild Dorian Tillery; sisters Katy Davillier, Rachel Melonson, Jennifer Trevino; brother Keith Davillier; nieces; nephews; cousins and a host of family and friends.
Dee's family extends thanks for the many prayers, contributions, kind words and support, with special appreciation to the officers of Central High School Class of 1999 and Comeaux Community Funeral home.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Comeaux Community Funeral Chapel with Pastor Elmo Chaison and Rev. Charles Malonson of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church officiating. Due to COVID-19 considerations, services were virtual, with only a limited number of close family and friends in attendance.
A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Dee was honored with an "Ivy Beyond the Wall" ceremony following the service.
Honorary Pallbearers were Spencer Davillier, Justin Ford, Jason Ford, Chris Gallien, Robert Randle, Emile Davillier, Keith Davillier Jr. and Lenny Johnson.
May Dee rest in peace knowing that she will be remembered forever.
