Mary Ruser

Mary Elizabeth Ruser, nee Schmidt, 99, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 23, 1917, in Belleville, Ill, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Dammert Geriatric Center, Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Ruser was a homemaker who loved being with family and friends. She was an avid traveler and a member of the Wally Byam Airstream Caravaners Club. Mary also was a lifelong parishioner at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville, Ill.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard H. Ruser Sr., who died June 5, 1998; her parents, Bernhard and Amelia, nee Meidinger, Schmidt; two sons, Gordon B. and Daniel B. Ruser; two sisters, Carola (Sister Mary Verona) Schmidt, and Verona (George) Munier; and a brother, Evarist Schmidt.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Gail Kirk of Tampa, Fla. and Mary Beth Kingsley of Freeburg, Ill.; son, Bernard H. (Jane) Ruser Jr., of Schaumburg, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Douglas (Ginny) Kirk, Diana Kirk, Dana (Eric) Ferren, Elizabeth (Scott) Irby, Kelly (Mitch) Aubuchon, Christine (Christopher) Vitela, Claire Ruser, Jeffrey Ruser, and Monica Ruser; ten great-grandchildren, Christian, Reilly, Amelia, Cody, Sierra, Brandon, Jarrett, Alexandra, Braelynn and Landon; two sisters-in-law, Irene Schmidt and Edith Frischkorn both of Belleville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, for 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville, Ill., with Msgr. John Myler officiating. Burial will be in Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
