Margie was a friend of my friend, Andrea Hess, who lived next door to Margie in the late 1970's. Each apartment had a small enclosed area just outside the front door. Margie had an easel there and used to leave an oil painting on it. Every few days the painting would change. I'd stop and look at the paintings. I loved seeing every one of them. Especially the unique blending of colors. Eventually, I met Margie, and we talked about her paintings. Those talks were also very interesting. Margie was very interesting and very energetic. Sometimes she told me about her marathon walks of several miles. One day I bumped into her in Pacific Beach in San Diego. I ask what she was doing, and she said she was going to walk to La Jolla. I said that is a very long walk, and she said good. Another time my bank was having a parking lot party with music. Margie was there after walking many miles to get there and danced enthusiastically for a couple of hours. She had a lot energy. She also seemed to be independent and thought for herself. I think her main conclusion was that as a society we should be doing much better.

Margie was a classmate at Bellingham High School in our Sophomore year, attending and graduating from Sehome High School when it was built. Ling Chin, Margie Lee and I (Leilani King) lived together while attending Western Washington University enjoying holidays at Lee family home which later became a Bellingham City Park, Woodstock Farm . I later visited Margie in Boston and Portland at her Saturday Market booth there. Margie was a VERY TALENTED Artist. I especially ENJOYED the delightful little girls with flousy skirts she drew early in her career. I try to drive up Chuckanut Drive and stop at Woodstock Farm everytime I go to Bellingham. RIP Margie.
