Steve Gray Obituary

Steve Gray, 52, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 and Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. at Saturday Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
Steve was born Oct. 28, 1964 in Robert Lee, Texas to Laura Luvenna Bearfield Gray and Jack Neal Gray. He had lived in various places growing up including San Antonio from 1964-1967; Waelder from 1967-1972; Pecos from 1972-1976; Eldorado from 1976-1977; Big Spring from 1977-1979 and he graduated from Balmorhea High School in 1983, where he was active in band throughout school. He then moved to Big Spring and he graduated from Howard College with an associate degree in automotive technology in 1985.
Steve was the garage supervisor for the city of Big Spring until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked for Phoenix and Cline Construction.
Through the years, he was very active in Boy Scouts Troop 5 and later Troop 187 as well as very active in the Midland County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol. He was active in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Big Spring and Snyder, holding several offices. He was especially active with the youth programs and The Elder's Quorum. He married Terry Hudson on June 20, 1992 in Big Spring.
He is survived by his wife Terry Gray of Big Spring; three brothers, Johnnie Gray and wife, Joyce, of Sherwood, Gary Gray and wife, Elaine, of Big Spring and Larry Gray and wife, Debbie, of Yoakum; one sister, Laura Lowery and husband, Lee Dale, of Big Spring; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Laura Luvenna Bearfield Gray and Jack Neal Gray.
Pallbearers will be Johnnie Gray, Larry Gray, Nate Gray, Kenny Lowery, Gary Gray, Jack Gray, Lee Dale Lowery and Kerry Lowery. Alternates will be Jason Wheeler and Chris Dobson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Midland County Sheriff Department Mounted Patrol.

Darrell and I have all the family members in our thoughts and prayers.

I am saddened to hear of Steve's passing. I knew him from Howard College Automotive Dept. where he was a fun loving young man who always had a smile on his face. You will be missed but also remembered with much happiness. No more pain my friend.
May God continue to comfort your family.
