Caleb Frerich Obituary

Devoted husband, father, son and brother Caleb Joseph Frerich, 32, of Midland, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, following a brief illness.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and soulmate, Katie Gentry Frerich; daughter, Zoebella, 9, and son, William Joseph, 3 months, all of Midland; parents, Greg and Debbie Frerich, of Midland; sister Colby Hall and her husband, Cameron Hall, and nephew, Griffin Hall, of Houston; grandparents Hubert and Annette Frerich, of Garden City, and Charles and Martha Beasley, of Ozona; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Susan Gentry, of Midland, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Stephanie McQuitty, and nieces Averi and Mollie McQuitty, all of Midland, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Caleb also leaves many from his St. Ann's Church and Midland Community Theater families.

Caleb had no greater love than his family, and his devotion was unending. Until his passing, he sang lullabies to Zoe every night after their nightly prayers. He and Zoe swam together often, and they both enjoyed the YMCA Indian Princesses program. One of the last great joys in Caleb's life was the birth of his and Katie's son, William, Nov. 12, 2014.

Caleb prayed the rosary on his drive to work every morning. He was active in the St. Ann's ACTS ministry, which returned him to the church and breathed new life into his faith. Always brimming with joy, Caleb never failed to bring a smile to Katie, his children, family, friends and even strangers. His wife marveled at the man he had become, and how he only spoke good of everyone during his all-too-brief time on earth.

A reader and writer of poetry, Caleb had many talents, including singing and playing the guitar in the St. Ann's Choir; leading the music ministry on his ACTS team; chairing the St. Ann's Run to the Fair, and acting in many local stage productions at Midland Community Theater. Caleb was the lead in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and also had roles in "The Wizard of Oz," "Shrek" and "Mary Poppins." His volunteer work also included active involvement in the Knights of Columbus Council 3071; all of his brother Knights will miss Caleb, his spirit and giving heart.

A lover of mathematics, computers, electronics and the number 4, Katie lovingly recalled that her "math-nerd husband" would only eat his Reese's Pieces in multiples of four. Caleb was a lover of "Star Wars," "Batman"and "Spiderman," and as a youth he participated in baseball, football and martial arts.

Caleb graduated from Midland High School in 2000 and later received an associates degree from Midland College. He worked many years for his father, following in his dad's footsteps in the oil field pumping service industry. At the time of his death, Caleb was an artificial lift technician for Pioneer Natural Resources.

A Rosary for Caleb will be prayed at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Ann's Church, 1906 W. Texas Ave, Midland. A public viewing will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring, in Midland.

Caleb's funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Ann's. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. A reception will be held at St. Ann's following the conclusion of the graveside services.

Pallbearers are Bobby Hart, Andy Iverson, Bob Klemme, Aaron Hale, Cameron Hall and Darren Hillger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Ann's School, 2000 W. Texas, Midland Texas, 79701.

This shock and loss are tremendous but his life will always be remembered. I only knew Caleb when he was in highschool and for a few years afterward since I was friends with Colby. But I always saw him as a good big brother. He was a good, strong man who became an even better man over the years. I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish I could be at the funeral but work and travel will not permit it. I hope your family will feel all the love that people have for you and Caleb. My prayers and heart are with you.

We are so sorry for you loss. We didn't have the pleasure of knowing him personally, but after reading his obit I am so sad that we didn't. What a great young man he was!! I can't imagine your pain, but what a blessing he was and his memory will continue to be. Praying for comfort and love for you all.
