Why his great voice was denied an annual place on the MET roster is frankly beyond me....
Rest in peace Bob.

The passing of Robert Honeysucker is a great loss for the music world, and I received the news with deep sadness. I am grateful that such a gift from above as his voice, doesn't end with one's life, but remains in our realm as a legacy for all to enjoy, learn from and grow spiritually. Such gift becomes our connection to the Divine.
Though Mr. Honeysucker was not directly my teacher, I received wonderful feedback and encouragement from him as a Voice Jury at the Boston Conservatory, and valued his opinion because he was such a great singer. I always kept his handwritten comments so I could read them again and again. It is an inspiration to feel appreciated by someone whom you respect so much. My condolences to his family and all who knew him. May he rest in Peace.

We were so privileged to have known such a special person as Robert. As high school classmates, we knew Robert to be an extremely gifted individual. Not only did God gift him with a phenomenal voice, He blessed him with a beautiful personality. Even though we are in Tennessee, we were kept abreast of most of his performances because we wanted to know what our friend was doing!
We know that Robert will join God's heavenly choir, but his legacy will live on in our hearts.
Our prayers will continue to be with the family and with the community in which Robert diligently served.
Our love,
Wrensey and Eddye Gill

I met Bob through my son in who was a student to him in Longy School of Music. A thorough professional and a gentleman, Bob was a teacher-performer. The sonority of his voice attracted me and I attended as many local performances as I could. He was kind, inquisitive and always dignifying. His rendering of Martin Luther King's speech with the Boston Lyric Opera would be etched in me for ever. On behalf of my family, I offer my condolences to his wife and to his family on his untimely demise. Angels live on earth for ever! I hear his voice from the back of the Hall!

We were so sadden to have heard about our Robert's passing. "Mr. Baritone", as we fondly called him was such a gift from God. During our four years of high school, he was one of the most likeable guys in our class. When we were together for our 50th and 52nd high school reunion, Robert sang a couple of Negro spirituals at the gathering and mesmerized all of us! We had forgotten how great the gift was that God had given him.
He will be missed by us all. We lost a friend, but God gained an angel.
Our love and prayers are with the family.

Thank you, Robert Honeysucker, for instructing me in the art of vocal performance when I was 13 years old at the Community Music Center of Boston in the late 60's. Your voice was incredibly beautiful. My heart goes out to your family at this time of loss.

My heart became heavy when I found out that the world lost such an inspiring artist. I had the honor of meeting Robert when he came to Salem State. I asked him what the most valuable piece of advice he had ever recieved was, and he said that it was to play every song as the composer intended. I will carry that with me for the rest of my career as a musician. Robert, it was magical meeting you, and witnessing you and your wife performing together. Thank you for the wisdom. It was a privilege to sing on the same stage as Robert several times as a member of Masterworks Chorale and Boston Cecilia. He was a wonderful singer and musician, and to my mind the best Elijah ever! He will be missed.

It was always a privilege to sing in Quincy Choral Society when Robert Honeysucker was our soloist. His fabulous voice, professionalism, friendliness and complete lack of ego always made singers work harder. He sang Felix Mendelsshon's "Elijah" and owned the role! Heaven's choir now has a new, and fantastic, soloist and they are rejoicing. We on earth are saddened by this great man's passing. Rest In Peace, Robert.❤

I had the pleasure of knowing Bob at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I feel painful irony that what comes to my mind's ear is Bob's singing along with the jukebox, "Tracks of Our Tears." My tears well up as I type.
His voice has always been of the angels. The Heavenly Chorus has grown by one.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Robert's passing. We had the pleasure of hosting Robert here at Salem State several times, and it was always an amazing experience. His work with our students was incredible to see and a testament to the human being he was: always giving, always kind, and always nurturing. He will be sorely missed and the world is a little emptier without him in it.

We, in the Concord Chorus, considered Robert a member of our extended family. He sang with us on many occasions and was scheduled to sing with us again in the Spring of 2018. We are devastated by the loss of such a wonderful man, and by the stilling of such a sublime voice. We hope that his family and friends can find comfort in the knowledge that he brought joy and music to so many people and touched so many hearts. --Priscilla Stevens, Chair, Concord Chorus
