David Baker, working in New York, and John Kirkpatrick who was in Massachusetts (and who was my "Boss") were very happy when the SPR meeting came around each year. It was a chance for them to play golf together! I didn't know David well, but remember him as the gentle, wise, easygoing partner of his expansive colleague, Walter Berdon.
David was from the greatest generation in two regards: serving his country in WWII and serving Pediatric Radiology as teacher and leader when the specialty was evolving after the war. I was one of the beneficiaries of that golden age of Pediatric Radiology by being in the right place at the right time and learning from the giants.
I am very sad to learn that David has gone--but he left the world a better place by being here.

Dave was my mentor and my friend when I was a fellow at Columbia-Presbyterian in 1960-1961, and he later became my partner in Savannah, doing what he loved, teaching our residents. Generations of radiologists were profoundly influenced by Dave and are devastated by his loss, but are forever grateful for what he gave us both professionally and personally. Betsy, as always, should be proud of his legacy and Dave, your memory will always we with us.

I worked with Dave for several years at Memorial Hospital in Savannah. He was a great radiologist and a wonderful man, beloved by his colleagues and especially by the radiology residents whom he taught. I will miss him and am very sorry for your loss. He made a huge contribution to pediatric radiology, and to the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
