It was just recently that I heard of the passing of Walter Hannon . Truely , a great great man . I know it has been a while since Walter has passed but I just had to extend my sympathies . A very unique individual that made a tremendous and positive impression and effect upon me that I have never forgotten and very grateful for .

Each time I pass the beautiful monument at the head of the roadway bearing Walter's name I'm quickly reminded of what an extraordinary leader he was and a great friend. May he rest in peace for all his good work.

Sorry to hear of Mayor Hannon's passing. I remember when he used to come over to Davis Street to visit his friend Johnny Wright who lived next door to us. I bumped into him about 10 years back in the supermarket and he was the same as always, nice man and pleasant to talk to. He did a great job for Quincy. His influence will be remembered for generations. Rest in Peace, Walter.

To Susan and Family:
It was so sad this am to open the Globe and see the notice on Mr Mayor [ i loved calling him that when he walked into my office at International Place] . Our entire family sends their sincere condolences and we will lift Mr Hannon up in our prayers this Sunday.
He was a truly wonderful person and a great dad and granddad. I know how dearly you all loved him and will cherish your many moments in Maine and Quincy.
His life was an inspiration to many many people and it was inspiring to me to know HE DID IT HIS WAY !
Love,
Nick

Dear Tricia, Bob, Cam, Reese, Lincoln and family,
I am very sorry to hear of Walter's passing. A very honorable Mayor of Quincy back in the 70's. I remember meeting his wife at Cohasset Skippers Boys Soccer games I videotaped watching Cam play months before her passing. Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Take care and God Bless you all.

Sad to hear of Walter's passing. Proud to have called him friend. No arrogance, easily accessible, help any and all he could and did with neither question nor qualification. Recall many stories but my fave will always be an unusual Sat A.M. council budget hearing on a new school. The mayor emerged in tennis togs from his office (then off the old council chamber foyer), stood listening a bit. When his presence was remarked, the Mayor simply said (paraphrase) "Pass what we agreed, send it to me, I'll sign it. One penny more or less, I won't. Now I'm late for tennis." and off he went. Direct, no-nonsense, fiscally careful, he loved his city and served her well. And he was a darn nice guy. Deepest sympathies to his First Lady and ours and to his family. May he rest in peace. Hope he has a really good tee time as he waits for his beloveds.
