McARDLE, Joan (Creamer) It is with great sadness that we announce after a five year battle with lung cancer Joan McArdle died peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025 at her home in Andover. For 39 years she was the beloved wife of John J. McArdle III. Born in Boston on September 30, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Albert M. Creamer and Kay (Hall) Creamer. Joan was educated at parochial schools in Dorchester and later Lexington before transferring to the Lexington Public Schools. Upon her graduation, Joan then enrolled at Smith College. Joan majored in English and ironically she credited her Liberal Arts Education with providing her with the acumen to ultimately transition to finance. After graduating from Smith College in 1973, she joined the First National Bank of Boston's Trust Department and subsequently the Personnel Department where her primary job was to interview business school graduates for the banks management training program. Joan was intrigued at the thought of lending money and she applied for the training program and was accepted. Ultimately, Joan was assigned to call on large corporate accounts in New York City and Chicago. While initially interesting, the job did not offer the credit and investment exposure Joan was looking for. As luck would have it, an opportunity opened for such a position at Massachusetts Capital Resource Company and Joan went on to be employed there for over 30 years. She specialized in technology/software companies. Joan served on a number of boards to include Aspen Technology. Additionally at the time of her death, Joan was a Trustee of Lahey Clinic. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Nancy McArdle Worthen and her husband, Frederic Paine Worthen Jr. Joan is survived by her loving husband, John J. McArdle III of Andover; sister, Susan Creamer and her husband, Jon Schoenhorn of Farmington, CT; and brother, Paul Creamer and his wife, Nancy McCarthy of North Andover. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Susan McArdle and her husband, David Koelle, M.D., of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law, Peter S. McArdle and his wife, Cynthia Lee McArdle of Raleigh, NC. She will be sorely missed by nieces and nephews, Allyson Schoenhorn and Sarah Worthen Harter, Frederic Paine Worthen III, and Samson Jonathan Koelle. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 1:30 PM, at St. Augustine Parish, 43 Essex Street, in Andover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Lahey Clinic, c/o Oncology Department, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the McArdle family. Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844
