Melvin E. Beaton

BEATON, Melvin E. Of Weymouth formerly of Dorchester died Sunday Sept. 6, 2009 at his home in Weymouth surrounded by his family. He was 92 years of age and was raised in E. Boston. He lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Weymouth 18 years ago. He was a clerk for the Boston Housing Authority and retired in 1983. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. He was at the D-Day Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was also part of the liberating force of the Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. Beloved husband of the late Mary C. (Beard) Beaton and the late Lillian A. (Daly) Beaton. Devoted father of Barbara Holder of Milton, Lillian Chisholm of Acton, Robert Beaton and his wife Ann of Newton, Richard Beaton and his wife Ann Harrington of Weymouth and the late Melvin E. Beaton Jr. Brother of the late John, Joseph and Donald Beaton. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
