Samuel J. Cashman Jr.

80, Coronado Street, died Wednesday at South County Hospital, after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (Cavanaugh) Cashman for 32 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Samuel J. and Irene (Galligan) Cashman, he lived in Cumberland before moving to Jamestown 12 years ago. Mr. Cashman was a graduate of Hope High School, attended Brown University and graduated from Boston University. He was a Naval Aviator serving in WW II. Mr. Cashman was a teacher and Department Chair for the math and science department at Foxboro High School. He also was a hematologist at Rhode Island Hospital before retiring. He was an Eagle Scout of Troop 82, Providence. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Power Squadron. He was a communicant of St. Mark Church. He is survived by his four children, Michaeleen A. Farrell of Central Falls, Timothy S. Cashman of Wakefield, Mark P. Cashman of Lebanon, TN, and Maura C. Curran of Scituate, MA; and eight grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John C. Cashman. His Funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45am from Fagan - Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, NORTH KINGSTOWN, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown.
