I was a student of Miriam's in the first class of the New College of Hofstra's theatre program, and she has remained an inspiration to me ever since. She was a marvellous teacher, director and acting coach, a loving mother and wife, and someone who had the gift of drawing out the best in all of us. We worshipped the ground she walked on, and she is for me the model of lovingkindness which I have always tried to emulate.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends. The world has lost an exceedingly bright light.

My condolences to Mrs. Tulin's family. Such a warm, nurturing teacher and yet she demanded the best from us in those classes at Hofstra. Like being taught by a strict but loving aunt. I had the deepest respect for her.

Sending love to Mrs.Tulin's friends and family. May all your sweet memories heal your heart. I loved Mrs. Tulin. She was my first acting teacher in my first acting class ever. I'll never forget how she couldn't contain herself from hysterically laughing during a rehearsal of Ladyhouse Blues. She had directed me to cut potatoes. I never cooked, but thought of my mom cutting potatoes and thought 'potatoes au gratin'! I started slicing (I was thinking potatoes au gratin)and went on with the scene. When I looked up, I saw Mrs. Tulin laughing so hard that tears were streaming down her face (Ladyhouse Blues was a drama, after all). I was so confused, "What?" I asked. She said, "My God, what are you making, potato chips!?!"
I can still see us all laughing and laughing. One of my favorite Hofstra memories... sending love...

Mrs. Tulin was everything a good teacher and director should be -- encouraging and inspiring, strict yet kind, demanding and rewarding. She was a lovely woman in every way and I was lucky to have had her as a key part of my educational life at Hofstra. My deepest sympathies to her family, friends and students --

Dr. Tulin called me 'COLIN' on occasion, and I loved it. She talked about my work in acting class to the upper classmen and made me a Hofstra legend! I am so lucky to have had that beautiful woman take such good care of that young me. God bless her and her family. Margaret Colin

Mrs. Tulin was my acting teacher and sometime director at Hofstra. I remember her fondly, as she was very kind and encouraging to me. I always loved the cooking analogies, and whenever I worked with her, I did my best to try to rise out of the pan.
My sincere condolences to her family and friends. I'm saddened to hear of her passing, but I have lovely memories. Thank you Mrs. Tulin, you made my life better.
