Marjorie Fletcher Balboni

BALBONI, Marjorie Fletcher Passed away peacefully at home in Westwood, Massachusetts on May 22, 2010. Born in New York City on May 6, 1921, she was the daughter of Andrew and Dorothea Fletcher of Mendham, New Jersey and New York City. She was predeceased by her siblings, Andrew Fletcher of New York, and Anne Fletcher Robinson of London, as well as by her husband, Dr. Victor G. Balboni and their favorite dog, Reggie. Marjorie was educated at Chatham Hall, Miss Porter's School, and Smith College. Marjorie and her husband were happily married for more than 55 years, raising four daughters in Chestnut Hill and Little Compton, where they enjoyed sailing and racing the Sea Bird. Marjorie, a former member of both The Cambridge Art Association and The Copley Society, was an award winning artist. In addition to painting, she was an active member in a variety of community organizations including The Robert Bent Brigham Hospital of Boston, The Junior League of Boston, The Colonial Dames, The Chilton Club, Smith College Alumnae, and The Garden Club of Chestnut Hill. She was a loyal parishioner of The Church of the Redeemer and a golfer at The Country Club and The Sakonnet Golf Club. Marjorie will be dearly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law: Margot Balboni of Brookline, MA, Lisa and Adolf Haffenreffer of Little Compton, R.I., Christina and Robert E. Patterson of Atherton, CA and Lillian and John Nolan of West Hartford, CT. She leaves seven grandchildren and their spouses: Lindley Haffenreffer of New York City, Adolf Haffenreffer of Newport, Andrew Haffenreffer of Boulder, Peter Prestley of Saipan, Elizabeth and Patrick McGrath of New York City, Victor E. Patterson of San Francisco, and Milo and Nicholas Werner of San Francisco. She leaves three great grandchildren: Fletcher Catherine Werner, Rose Prestley McGrath, and May Prestley McGrath. Her daughters are grateful for the professional and thoughtful help provided by her caretakers, whom she enjoyed and greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Dedham on Friday, June 4th at 11:00 a.m.
