AMABILE, Ralph J. Jr. Age 91 years, a resident of Kennebunk, formerly of Weymouth, MA, died January 2, 2020 in Biddeford, ME. Longtime businessman in Leather Industry and WWII Veteran US Army.

Beloved husband of June M. Amabile of Kennebunk; beloved father of William R. Amabile of Kennebunk; Donna M. Amabile of Portland, Denise M. Hamilton of Arundel and Lisa J. Nedeau of Waterborough, ME; beloved brother of Joan Anderson and her husband Walter of Weymouth, MA and Jeanne Amabile of Kennebunk, ME; beloved grandfather of Scott Jr., Kelsey, Nicholas and Kortney and beloved great-grandfather of Savannah and Hadley, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 4-7PM, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, KENNEBUNK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Holy Spirit Parish - St. Martha's Church, 30 Portland Road, Kennebunk. Interment will be in the Village Cemetery in Weymouth, MA with military honors in the spring.

I never knew Ralph, but I heard his name mentioned many times as a child when my father would tell the story of what he went through to get the town to build a much needed retaining wall at the end of our property in Weymouth. "If it wasn't for Ralph Amabile, we'd all be swimming..." Apparently, he was the only person in the town who took his problem seriously. Now my dad was a die-hard democrat his entire life, but his story always ended with the fact that for the town's next election, he switched his affiliation to republican for one reason only, to vote for Ralph Amabile. Of course, he switched back immediately.

I met Ralph many years ago when I first got into the footwear industry. Ralph was always patient and helpful. A real gentleman. I will miss Ralph's friendly manner. Rest well my old friend.

I met Ralph early in my career in the leather business. He was always traveling, calling his contacts, keeping up with Industry changes. He would call me every few weeks to catch up on the news'. Everyone in the business has a Ralph story! He will be missed.

A great and elegant man has left us. I've enjoyed all the time I shared with him in China. He was a constant support to my late husband and me. It was a great honor to visit in Maine and speak just before Christmas. A wealth of kindness goes with this unique man. He will be missed dearly. My sincere condolences to June, family and many many friends.
