Leona Long Obituary

Leona Fechter Long, 69, has finished her journey on earth. Before she left, she had a lifelong love of learning and of teaching. She was a master gardener, held a master's degree in health education, and loved books and all types of study. She attended college at Carroll College in Helena and at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.

Leona and Gordon Armstrong, both from Helena, are the parents of four remarkable children: Howard Owen of Virginia Beach, Va.; Alan Anthony of Boise, Idaho; Andrew Charles of Boise, Idaho; and Margaret Rachel of Boise, Idaho. They were all able to spend lots of quality time with their beloved mother in her final days and weeks, including a trip to Yellowstone Park.

She was blessed with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Fechter.

She will be missed by all.

A funeral mass will be held in the summer of 2012.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Leona's name to the Hospice of Southwest Montana.
