Ruth Wuensche Wright passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, surrounded by family and loving caregivers.

She was born April 9, 1931, in Bishop, Texas, to John Andrew and Julia Theiss Wuensche, the 2nd youngest of their 10 children. After graduating from Bishop High School, she attended Valparaiso University and Texas A&I University. She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Bell, 98, of Tyler, Texas. Ruth is predeceased by her parents, as well as brothers and sisters: Hilda Theis, Reverend Reinhardt Wuensche, Gertrude Tompkins, Sidonia Judith, Ernestine Ormond, John Wuensche, Rueben "Pete" Wuensche, and Dr. James Wuensche. She is also predeceased by husbands: George Moffett, George Holloman, and Dr. Levon David Wright. Ruth is survived by her seven children: Charlotte Elizabeth Wright Burney and husband, Dr. D. Patrick, of Greensboro, NC; Sarah Ellen Wright, of Durham, NC; Ann Bacon Wright Biegacki and husband, Tom, of New York City; Drs. Margaret Wright Berton and husband, Michael, of San Antonio; Deborah Kaye Wright, of Dallas; Nathan Bruce Wright and wife, Angelika, of Granbury, TX; and Levon David Wright, Jr, and wife, Tonya, of Houston; fourteen grandchildren: James Burney (Leif), Joseph Burney (Jennifer), Dr. Elizabeth Malinzak (Dr. Michael), Margaret Di Giulio (Dr. Christopher Lord), Emma Biegacki, Leslie Wright, John Wright, Sam Berton, Will Berton, Sarah Berton, Julia Wright, Taylor Wright, Emily Wright, and Michael Wright; and seven great-grandchildren: Diego and Dezi Burney; Jordan, Joshua, and Juliet Burney; and Patrick and Annette Malinzak.

Ruth was a lifelong music lover and sang in choirs her entire life as a talented soprano. She was a member of the Ocean Drive Garden Club for more than 50 years and served as its president of the Corpus Christi Area Garden Council. She was a supporter of the arts, devoting years of service to the Corpus Christi International Competition for Piano and Strings, serving as its president. Ruth was a board member of KEDT Radio. She supported the Corpus Christi Chamber Society, the Corpus Christi Symphony, and the Corpus Christi Symphony Guild. Ruth was also a member of the Nueces County Medical Alliance and several social clubs.

A memorial service was held in the Chapel at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, the American Heart Association, KEDT Radio, the American Arthritis Foundation, or to support local arts organizations.
