Richard William Hoffmann, age 92, of Savage, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday January 29th, 2026 surrounded, by family and friends. Born February 25th, 1933. Survived by children, Christopher Hoffmann, Lynda (Kenneth) Larkin, Kim (Sharon) Hoffmann, Laura Hinderks (Todd Steinhilber); grandchildren, Ken Jr. (Corina) Larkin, Katie (Mark) Williams, Holly (Kent) Nicolai, Colten (Angie) Hinderks, Hannah (Zachary) Murray, Chase Hinderks, Rebekah Hoffmann and Rachel Hoffmann; great grandchildren, Dakotah, Taylor, Makenna, Leah and Paige; sister, Carol Gustafson; sister-in-law Ruth Hoffmann and many other extended family members. Preceded in death by wife, Donna; parents, Alfred and Adele Hoffmann; brother, Ronald Hoffmann; brother-in-law, Alan Gustafson.

Richard and Donna were married on October 2nd, 1953. Richard served in the US Army, 29th Field Artillery Unit, from May 1953 to April 1955. He attended both Valparaiso University and University of Minnesota, graduating in 1962

He was a Professional Engineer, licensed in more than 20 states. He enjoyed being an expert witness for product liability cases.

They made their home in Burnsville, MN, for over 40 years where they raised their four children and numerous dachshund dogs. In 2011, they moved to Savage, MN. Richard was deeply devoted to his faith and family. He was an active Member of Redemption Lutheran Church for 46 years.

He enjoyed swimming in his back-yard pool, vegetable gardening, playing 500, White Castle sliders and his Bloody Mary and Guiness beer at Sunday brunch. He kept himself busy building model airplanes and railroads. He was a long-time member of the American Legion and VFW.

A special thank you to The Meadows Senior Living staff and Minnesota Hospice staff for the exceptional care and support to Richard and family. Thank you also to the many family and friends who came to visit and support Richard.

Funeral service Thursday, February 12th at 11:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to service at Redemption Lutheran Church, 927 E Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN. Interment at 12:30 PM at Fort Snelling Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the church.
