John Sponseller Obituary

John Niles Sponseller
84. died peacefully on Sept. 18, 2016, after many health challenges. He was a graduate of Reedurban Elementary School, Lincoln High School, Staunton Military Academy, Mount Union College, and the Cleveland-Marshall Law School. John spent his career as a practicing attorney in his family's law firm of Sponseller and Rothermel, and as owner of the Midland Title Agency in Canton Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a meterologist in the Canal Zone in Panama. He was a loving husband and father. He loved golfing, bowling, traveling, sports, hunting, hosting family reunions, and fine dining. He was also a private pilot and professional magician. John was a member of the Stark County Bar Association, the Elks, affiliate member of the Stark County Association of Realtors, Canton Magicrafters, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Sponseller and Lylas Hayes Sponseller, his aunt, Mary Jane Krayer, and his brothers, Dennis Sponseller and Edward Sponseller. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Cordier Sponseller of North Canton; sons, John W. Sponseller (Mary Ann) of Canton, Ohio, James E. (Kristie) Sponseller of Massillon, Ohio; daughters, Patricia A. Feigle of Halfway, Mo., and Nancy J. (Jeff) Rothermel of North Canton, Ohio. Other survivors include granddaughter, Theresa Sexias; grandsons, Ian Feigle, Collin Feigle, Ethan Rothermel, and Adam Rothermel.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW. with Rev. Richard Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Habitat for Humanity, Stark County Humane Society, or to the charity of your choice. Maryann and family, So sorry to hear about John. You have our sympathy. We have not seen John for a good many years but what sticks in our memory is ,John worked at the SOHIO station on E.TUSC. And my husband had car trouble .John helped him because he was on the way to St Joseph to marry me ! we have been married 58 years. Thanks John
