Ruth Weaver Obituary
Age 100, of Sebring, died Sunday, May 9, 2021 in the Salem Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 27, 1920 in Hanoverton to Harry and Mina (Davidson) Tank. She was a housewife and Secretary for Benson Typewriter in Canton. She had also worked for Henry's Hat Shop and Wilson Bakery in Minerva. She is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, graduated from Clarington High School in 1938, attended Canton Actual Business College, member of the Christian Women's Club of Salem, Greely Grange and the Minerva Senior Citizens. She was known as the "Cookie Lady" at Copeland Oaks and was very proud to be 100 years old.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arland Weaver who died in 1994; son, Walter Weaver; three sisters, Margaret Minamyer, Martha Jane McIntire and Bernice Gerber; brother, James Harold Tank and a grandson. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Herron of Salem, Mary Ellen (Sam) Phillis of Salem; a son, Dan (Faye Ellen) Weaver of Birchwood, Tenn; daughter-in-law, Elaine Weaver of Sebring; sister, Betty Dunn of Clarington; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 13th, at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register book at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.

Ruth was a dear friend to my mother-in-law Beatrice Schisler. Ruth at 100 and my mother-in-law at 98 kept up a letter/card writing friendship for years. Bea couldn't wait to hear from Ruth and it gave Mom something to look forward to. Ruth's picture sits on her desk to this day. We have chosen not to tell Mom of Ruth's passing, it would hurt her too deeply. I too struck up a pen pal relationship with Ruth and she shared many of her recipes with me, which I have made and will cherish. We will all miss Ruth's cards/letters, her pure optimism, humor and faith in God. Our hearts are so heavy hearing the news of her passing. Please know that we extent our deepest sympathies to her large family. Rest in Peace Ruth and we love you.

Ruth will forever be in my heart as well as many others she was such a blessing in my life. She was my grandmother Evelyn Schoeni Hoopes’s friend is how I got to know her many years ago what a Godly Christian she was. I know we will all be with her again one day as we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Prayers and Condolences. I will not be able to attend for I live in FL but I am so thankful I talked with her just a last week.
