HYANNIS - John Dearth died on August 22, 2007 at the Pavilion in Hyannis.

Mr. Dearth was the husband for 38 years of the late Cynthia Marie (Mellor) Dearth and also the former husband of Elizabeth M. (Archer) McSherry.

He was born in Green Bay, Wis., and grew up in Wellesley, Mass.

He attended Vermont Academy, Bowdoin College and Ohio State University.

Mr. Dearth served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and later with the United States Army Air Corporation in England during WWII with the 599th Bombardment Squadron.

He moved to Cape Cod in 1976 after retiring from the insurance business.

Among his interests were golf, fishing, gardening, bird watching and the Boston Red Sox.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah D. Attiliis of Falls Church, Va., three grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, and Liane; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Marydale Jones.

A Service with Military Honors will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass., on Friday, August 31, at 2:30 p.m.
