In addition to being one of the most honest and sincere individuals I've ever had the honor of fishing with. Charlie taught me to tie a few of his favorite fly patterns that have become a staple in my fly box. An author, conservationist, great fly fisherman and a genuine gentleman. It was an honor to call Charlie my friend.

Charlie, was one of those people you meet and you never forget. I first met him along the Bald Eagle Creek in 1976 and showed me how to catch trout with an artificial fly. Sure will miss him, a good man!Prayers go out to the family.

It seems like another time; but I remember you as kids and Shirley as Chas's typist of your dad's books. The 4 of you made a VERY nice family. The dogs are still in n my mind's pictures too. : )

I had the honor of fishing with Chas, and spending a glorious day with him on Spruce Creek. He introduced me to Spruce Creek tavern where you could get enough French fries to "choke a horse". I learned much about fishing reading his books. Tight lines old friend.

The world has lost a good man. Charlie and I went to PSU together and he helped me get a good start. He and his wife were like my second set of parents guiding me in my studies.

Seems like only yesterday we were on Spring Creek. ...can't believe it was 2 decades ago. Glad you made a couple big shows as I hadn't seen you in some years. Out of sight, but never out of mind. Sincere condolences to your family. Farewell, my old friend. Bob Mead

A more honest kind helpful generous human does not exist. Prolific writer, fly tyer, fisherman and outdoorsman. It has been said that God does not dedect from our time on earth-the time spent fishing. Charlie fished a lot- and boy are we thankful! I told him once if he gets there first to save a reach for me. We will miss you Chas.

The world has lost a true gentleman. I'll never forget watching Charlie work with the kids from Bishop Guilfoyle HS Fly Fishing Club. He spent hours with them teaching casting, fly tying and fishing skills. The kids loved him! And, he loved them! He will be missed.

My sympathy to the family. Charlie was a great man and friend. At Bishop Guilfoyle, we started a flyfishing club and Charlie was a big part of it. He taught the students so much and always brought one of his books for the kids to keep. What special memories I have of him there and on Spruce Creek. You'll be missed deeply but never forgotten.
