Brother Boots, my Hero!
So many memories--the family waiting at home for the call from Seattle to let us know if he won--he always did! The excitment of a little brother watching him play football at Central, and then prowling the sidelines, as only he could, when I played. His many visits to Farewell Street in "Goosetown" and fun times during his visits to us in Pensacola and Ft. Myers. He was always there to help me when I needed it--a tough guy with a heart of gold. When he meets St. Peter at the pearly gates he will probably say, "I want a rematch with Harry "Kid" Matthews!" God bless him--he will be missed, but never forgotten.

Dear Uncle Bootsie,
Four wonderful Guenther brothers in Heaven with Grandma and Grandpa... My best memory is when we visited many many years ago... I remember the bulldog and my sister stepping in the turtles' bowl. I remember the Guenther brothers being very strong both body, mind, and spirit.
I had the opportunity to visit LaCrosse this summer and saw your football picture still hanging on the walls of Central High School right next to my Dad's. You will be missed, Love Elizabeth Guenther Adams

Uncle Bootsie: We have lost another of America's greatest generation. You are loved and missed by all. I can still remember visiting you, Aunt Ann, Dan, and Jim, and Beau. Beau loved to chew on my feet. You and Beau were the reason why we found Trust (my first English Bulldog) and then Blocker. Love to all, Russell and family

Dearest brother Boots: One of my fondest memories is having you and your family for many of your August birthday dinners. It was a delight to watch Dan and Jim grow up as I spent a few summers babysitting them. I, also, cherish the memory of you coming to visit me once a month faithfully in Middleton during a difficult period in my life. The love you showed my sister and I during our childhood are precious memories. Love, Sister Connie

Dear Brother Boots: You were my favorite brother growing up on 1422 Farewell St. Your visits always brought excitement and Mom would have to make you pork chops. Your visits later to our home for ravioli dinners and our visits to your home for Thanksgiving dinners were highlights in our family. Mike still remembers you coming to the Univ. of Wis. football games when he attended the Univ. . You were loved so much. Sister Tucky

Dan,
Even though I didn't know your Dad well, I still have an indelible mental picture of him more than 46 years after I last saw him strolling the sidelines at our football games, looking a bit like Edward G. Robinson and sounding a bit like Dr. Kildare. Having lost my father when I was 15 and he was only 47, I'm someone who can really appreciate your good fortune in having Frank in your life for so long. My prayers are with you and your family.

Dr. Guenther, its been so many years since I've seen you,at least 42, maybe 43. You returned to The Force with Miriam Makeba and Big Odetta. Dan turned me on to both of them back in the day when I used to see you on those fall Saturdays. You are in good company.

Dr. Guenther,
I always considered you a "gentle giant." You were a friend of my dad, Reg McHugh. You were my chiropodist. You were one of the four football dads with Lyons, Norberg and McHugh, strolling the sidelines during practice giving "coaching" when and where necessary. I delight that I knew you and that your legacy continues with Dan and Jim. You will be missed by many and fondly remembered by all you touched. Peace be with you, Frank.
Fondly, Keen McHugh

Dad, Thanks for all you gave us. During your entire life you showed the courage of a champion. The 1941 Pacific Northwest Golden Gloves Light-Heavyweight Champion, your toughness provided an example for us all. Now "the Boeing Bomber" is at peace. Dan Guenther
