Warren Kreckler Obituary

Warren Kreckler, age 66, of Rogers Park in Chicago, died at home on August 9, 2017 following a battle with cancer. Warren was a gifted chess player (USCF Master) and a talented computer graphics designer. He was devoted to his loving partner of almost 25 years, Sophia Gates, and their cats. Warren was a fixture at the local chess clubs and the No Exit Cafe in Rogers Park and published the Illinois Chess Bulletin for several years. He was an ardent chef and loved classical music. Warren was also survived by his mother, Eugenia Kreckler, his sister, Judith Parker (William), his nieces, Christina Swain and Julia Dickerson (Joshua), great niece, Nicki Swain and several aunts and uncles and cousins in Iowa and Germany. He was predeceased by his father, Hans Kreckler. As he requested, Warren was cremated. He will be fondly remembered by his friends and family.
