I always think of Joe to this day. He is alive in my heart...still tell stories of the experiences we had together over the years. It's difficult to go to or drive by the Gas Station at Cumberland and Talcott. There are some people who touch your soul forever as Joe has touched mine. God Bless you Joe, Laura and the Wolfe Family.

Laura, I just heard of Joe's passing. Though we have lost contact in recent years, Joe was the best friend any one could ever have, a mentor to so many...with a "Heart of Gold." Joe was a gentle giant and I know you were his Grace Kelly. I have been Blessed to have Joe as a friend in my life. May the Lord carry him gently in the palm of His Hand and embrace him with the love he so deserves. Prayers, thoughts, condolences, peace of heart, soul and mind. Joe will be sorely missed by so many. Love, Joe & Colleen Martorano

Joe and I first met as sophomores at Fenwick. He grew up and we occasionally hung out on in the shadows of the notorious Cabrini-Green CHA projects. Little did we know that after college and as members of "Chicago's Finest", we'd spend considerable time in bloody Cabrini; Joe as a patrolman and me as a homicide detective.
Joe gained the admiration and respect of his fellow officers, the citizenry and even the local gangbangers--a street cop's cop. When Joe responded to an in-progress violent CPD situation, he could defuse it as quickly as the 82nd Airborne. Fun-loving Joe was a teddy bear of a gentleman with the heart of a lion. My deepest condolences to Laura and Joe's family. On Sunday, August 31st, the 11 A.M. Mass will be offered in his name at his childhood parish, St. Michael's of Old Town, 1633 N. Cleveland Ave. Godspeed, my dear old friend!

Joe was always special and will never be forgotten by any of his Football Teammates. I played and partied with Joe, and nobody was better, at either one, than Joe. Rest in Peace, Brother.

Joey.....you are so missed by Dennis and myself. There will be a big void left in our life that will constantly remind us that something has changed and not for the good! It was a privilege knowing you all these years and we thank you for your friendship.

Joe & Laura were my rocks when I first moved to Chicago and joined Shell out of college. They took my husband and I under their wings, accepted us as family and welcomed us and our friends into their life with their amazing family and friends. We always had so much fun with them and occasionally make the Bull drink, that they introduced us to, in honor of them. We left Chicago long ago but think of, and miss, them often. Laura - we are so sorry for your loss. We love you both so much. Jeff & Michelle Huber

Thank you Joe for your kindness and wonderful memories over the years.
On August 8th a light went out in the hearts of all who called Joey "friend".
Our world will be a little dimmer, but your presence always felt. So, "goodnight my friend until we meet again". Love you Anna Howard
