Kathryn Boulger Obituary

Kathryn Gough Boulger

CHILLICOTHE: On July 12, 2011, Kathryn Gough Boulger departed from the Ross County farm she loved so much, but her beautiful kind spirit and art will long continue to be with us. Kathryn was born on March 27, 1968 to Joy and Alan Gough, who survive.

At age three she was determined to be an artist and not long after began winning prizes for her unique creativity. A 1986 graduate of Chillicothe High School, where she was a member of the Art Honor Society, she won scholarships to the Columbus College of Art and Design, earning her B.A. and graduating Cum Laude in 1991.

Kathryn exhibited professionally in several prestigious art galleries and museums, solo exhibits and with her family.

Kathryn and John Boulger were married June 20, 1999 on Sandia Mountain in New Mexico. Living on the Boulger family farm in Ross County, she began paintings inspired by that locale as well as settings around the world and some existing only in her own imagination.

In 2008, she designed a Christmas tree ornament depicting the Hopewell Culture National Historic Park which was accepted to be hung on the official White House Christmas tree. She and her husband John were invited to a special White House reception along with other artists illustrating the various national park service sites.

Besides her bereaved husband; parents; brother, Robert; brother-in-law, Jim; and sisters-in-law, Kate and Grace; the extended Boulger, Gough and Olcott families attended the private Grandview committal service led by the Rev. James W. Grove on July 16, 2011.

The families are overwhelmed by such an outpouring of expressions of love, caring and compassion that has been shown during Kathryn's time in the Mount Carmel West Trauma Unit, her homecoming and now, her much lamented passing. We are eternally grateful for this response, for the precious time Kathryn was with us and her artworks which remain to be cherished and celebrated blessings.

Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME. You may sign her online register at www.warefh.com

So hard to believe that it's been nine years since Kathryn's passing. We think of her often, even after all this time and all that has happened during the intervening years. We hope you are well and staying safe in these incredible times.

Dear Alan and Joy,
We just received the tragic news of Kathryn's passing. We are stunned, and very, very saddened. To lose such a sweet, kind and giving spirit is so devastating for those who knew her as friends; how much more so for those who knew her as family. Please know that you have our sincerest condolences. You are in our thoughts and our prayers.

Joy, Alan and Rob,

No words can adequately express the sorrow your family must feel, and it is no comfort to know how many hearts are broken by your loss, but in our common grief perhaps a new closeness, fondness, love can begin to grow. I have wanted to stop by your home to lend an ear, nothing more, but my move has made such visits fewer. Know that, growing up with such family friends as the three of you and Kathryn, my life continues to be greatly enriched with impressions of past, present and future. I will always look back so happily at the many Gough family exhibits I had the privilege to attend.

With great fondness and immeasurable sympathy at your grief,

No words can express how much Kathryn, as a wonderful lady, and as a phenomenal artist touched lives. Her death has left such sadness in my heart. Not only did I lose a former student and friend, but this community has lost so much talent. Always pleasant, always compliant and always a cut above, yet very humble, Kathryn will be sorely missed. May Christ's love and your faith in Him grant your families His perfect peace! With deepest sympathy. - Nancy MacCarter
