Albert "Al" Proctor

1926 - 2017

Albert William (Al) Proctor, 90, of Hernando, FL passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Al was born on December 21, 1926 in Sanford, ME to the late William and Alberta (Davis) Proctor. He served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps and later in the Naval Reserves. After military service, he earned a law degree and worked as a contract lawyer for the U.S. Government. On October 1, 1978, he married Ottilie (Lee) (Langmaid) in a ceremony in the chapel at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point and the two shared 40 years of happy and loving marriage.
Al and Lee moved from Nashua, NH to Citrus County in 1988 and both became active in the Art Center of Citrus County. Al volunteered his time as a set builder, acted in a number of plays, and was active in other aspects of the Art Center, including setting up chairs for play performances and then taking them down. With his ready smile and friendly handshake, Al served as a theater usher and welcomed everyone to the Art Center Theatre in its earliest days. In addition to his volunteer work at the Art Center, he was a talented singer who enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet. He was an avid golfer who loved a good game and was a member of the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Elks Lodge. Al was always an outgoing gentleman, and up to the time of his passing enjoyed going to the grocery store to pick up a few groceries, some food for their cat, and to pass time with friends he saw on his errands.
In addition to his wife, those left to mourn Al's passing are his son, Eric Proctor and his wife, Laura of Phoenix, AZ; step-daughters: Lydia Caros of Minneapolis, MN, Cindy Lee Caros of Portsmouth, NH; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL with Reverend Greg Kell of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
