Dorothy ("Dottie") Irene Jacobs, age 95, died Thursday, August 11, 2016. She was born and raised in Cincinnati and was the daughter of the late Frank and Iva Seyler. Dottie graduated from Western Hills High School (1939) where she met her late husband of 68 years, Dr. Don Jacobs. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1943 and was a member of Mortar Board. Dottie followed her husband to Atlanta where he was stationed during part of World War II as an army physician and she taught in the Atlanta Public Schools. She later taught in the Cincinnati Public Schools. Dottie and Don had five sons and she was a devoted mother and wife. She was a kind hearted person and the doors of her house and kitchen were always open, especially during holidays. Dottie was always active in her community and children's schools, and was a docent both at the Cincinnati Art Museum (and President of the Women's Committee) and later University of Kentucky Art Museum. Upon her husband's retirement from medicine in 1986, she and Don moved to their Georgetown, Kentucky horse farm, Werk Way Farm, where they bred and raised American Saddlebred and Standardbred horses. She greatly enjoyed her involvement with the Scott County Women's Club. Dottie always loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess. She had great wit and charm. She is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law, Donald S. Jacobs (Lynn) of Cincinnati, Brent Jacobs (Jane) of Georgetown, Dan Jacobs (Melissa) of Asheville, NC, Steve Jacobs (Colleen) of Cincinnati, and Andy Jacobs (Betsy) of Lexington. In addition, she is survived by 12 grandchildren - Donald P., Stephanie, Audrey, Brooke, Julia, Summer, Brittany, Brandon, Breanna, Bailey, Olivia and Caroline, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Annelle and Kathleen. Funeral services will be at 11 am, Friday, August 19 at Westwood United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, with visitation at the church starting at 10 am. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery following the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cincinnati Art Museum or the American Saddlebred Museum.
