It is with extreme sadness that the Frey family announces the passing of our Father/Grandfather, John Edward Frey, on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026. John is survived by his two children, Greg Frey and Julie Frey, and his grandson, Cody Frey and his wife Hailey Frey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francine Frey, parents Charles and Dorothy Frey, and sister, Carol Hetzler.

John was born on October 17, 1942 in Cincinnati, OH where he graduated from Western Hills High School and briefly attended the University of Cincinnati. Through a course of events John wound up in Tucson, AZ where he graduated from the University of Arizona and met his wife Francine. John then entered the Air Force where he served for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, John's second career was as a Logistical Engineer for several DOD contractors.

John and Francine were the long-time owners of Francine's Hallmark Shop which was a cornerstone of their family's life for nearly 30 years. John was an avid bowler earlier in his life and after retiring from the Air Force developed a passion for golf. John was also a very active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon for a number of years.

John was loved by all who met him and was known for his smile, quick wit, and caring heart.

John will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, and a celebration of life will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church (9315 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112) at 10am on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
