Robert H. (Bob) Mohr, 97, of Central Lake, passed away on Saturday February 21 st 2026 at Charlevoix Hospital. Married for over 70 years to his wife, Mae, Bob had three “children,” Connie, Steve, andLeslie, in chronological order, all of whom survive him. All of the “kids” concur that Bob was a wonderful father, always putting his family first, sharing his fine sense of humor, and trying to have a positive impact on the community. In addition to his three children, Bob had seven grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Bob is preceded in passing by his mother, Marie(Brauchman) Mohr, his father Edward (Ed) Mohr, his younger brother Fred Mohr, his older brother Ed Mohr, and his loving wife, Mary Ellen (Mae) (Schomaker) Mohr.

Bob grew up in Bellevue, Kentucky, graduating from Bellevue High School, serving in the Army, attending the Cincinnati Art Academy and Xavier University, and graduating from the University of Cincinnati. He met Mae, also a Bellevue native, and they were married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue. Shortly after their marriage, Bob and Mae moved to southeast Michigan for Bob’s career as a medical illustrator, medical photographer, and maxillofacial prosthetic designer. They remained in Michigan for the rest of their lives, moving to Central Lake permanently in 1992, after having built their retirement home here in 1977.

Bob possessed a wide ranging and informed intellect, and he achieved national recognition as a medical artist. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and sports, spanning a season in minor league baseball through to playing his last round of golf at age 97 in September of last year at Centennial Farms. Bob was also very involved in the community, actively engaged in St. Luke’s Catholic Church, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a long standing member of the Lions Club.

A unique blend of intelligence, athleticism, and artistic creativity, Bob had a way of surprising people with some of his approaches to life’s challenges and adventures. While most of his endeavors were successful, not all worked out as conceived; at these times his sense of humor sparkled and he’d throw up his arms, announcing one of his favorite sayings, “Well, that’s show biz!,” before moving on to thenext project. This trait has lead the kids to speculate that Bob, who enjoyed music throughout his life, had adopted Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way” as his theme song.

A visitation, funeral mass and luncheon, all at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Bellaire, will be held on Friday, June 19th, starting at 10:00 a.m., further communication will come as that date draws nearer.
