Kyle Clack Obituary

Kyle Clack

Weaverville - On the morning of Thursday, January 14, 2016, Kyle Clack passed away from complications of a brain tumor diagnosed early last year.

A native of Wyandotte, Michigan, Kyle graduated from Roosevelt High School and Central Michigan University with a BA of Fine Arts, majoring in photography. And then his career adventures began.

While still in college he started a bike shop in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, followed by a mountaineering shop in East Lansing. From there, Kyle moved into the motorcycle industry and worked in several capacities with an East Lansing motorcycle shop and then with Ducati USA. During this time he also raced motorcycles. At this time, he crossed paths with Melissa King again and they got married in 1992 while rock climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. Next, he moved back into the outdoor industry, working for an outdoor equipment manufacturer in Chatsworth, CA. After 12 years in CA, he and Melissa moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where he worked as a ride director for a non-profit pediatric brain tumor foundation. Affected children and families felt his impact at every event for nearly a decade. Kyle then moved into public relations for Victory Motorcycles, where he worked for two years, until he left to focus on his treatment in April 2015.

Kyle was an avid telemark and cross-country skier, mountain and rock climber, motorcyclist, bicyclist, and photographer. He was passionate about his friends and family, music and motorcycle racing.

Kyle's passions and work were always intertwined. His positive energy, limitless enthusiasm, quick laugh and genuine loving smile always resulted in friendship. Kyle's impact on the World has been far greater than the average person. In his wake is immeasurable camaraderie and inspiration across the nation.

It's important to note that Kyle did not lose a battle; he in fact spent an entire life winning and helping those he loved and many more he did not even know. Kyle has left this Earth a better place and was surrounded by loving friends as he headed off for his last adventure. To any measure, that is ending on a win.

Kyle was preceded in death by his mother Erma, father Skip, brother Mike, and his beloved dog Nyack. He is survived by his sister Terry Burns and her family, and his wife Melissa King.

Per Kyle's wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will become part of the wind and the Earth that he so loved. It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to: CarePartners Hospice Foundation: https://4046.thankyou4caring.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=298. From the Designation dropdown menu, select the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. It was there that Kyle was so well cared for during the last few weeks of his life.

In lieu of a funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held at Black Dome Mountain Sports in Asheville on Saturday, January 16th at 6pm. There will also be a Celebration of Life for Kyle in Bath, Michigan, as well as at the family cabin in Rust Township, Michigan, in the coming months. Dates will be announced in the near future.
